BOOKS

Anything by Melodie Beattie.  She’s a great resource for healing from Codependent relationships.  Her books will teach you about making positive choices and setting up proper boundaries and maintaining them.

Anything by Thich Nhat Hanh.  His works are filled with loving kindness and a healing spirit.  His words are simple, yet his thoughts are profound.  He’s all about tending to your emotions in a gentle way and learning to be mindful about the choices you make.  He tackles complex issues like happiness, fear, anger and suffering and presents ways to look at these subjects in a nonjudgmental way.  He’s a great option for people searching for a deeper level of consciousness without compelling the reader toward a certain faith.  Any time I feel anxious, I pick up one of his books in my personal library and I find a page that instantly makes me feel more calm.  He’s like a cup of chamomile tea for the soul.

I Hate You; Don’t Leave Me by Demi Lovato and Stop Waling on Eggshells by Paul T Mason and Randi Kreger.  They are both great books on how to deal with difficult people… and let’s face it: if you have a toddler or teen, they are difficult to deal with sometimes!  Both are geared from the perspective of adults with personality disorders, but chanced are, you have one in your life.  Both books give insights and tips on how to negotiate challenging situations and deescalate the moment.
